Louise Copeland Marks proudly calls the Albany Academy for Girls (AAG) her Alma Mater. She earned a BA in Sociology from Tufts University and a MSW from the University at Albany. She currently lives on the Hudson River in Stillwater, NY.
Associate Professor Emerita of Sociology, Psychology, and Mental Health at North Country Community College, Saranac Lake, NY, she was honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the State University of New York.
Teaching an elective course on the social history of American women, she was inspired by the many ordinary and extraordinary women who, like Betsey Foot, did not allow fear or social expectations to limit their freedom to live a life of purpose.
